The Obsidian Ascent
Black mountain reach
march of the damned
procession of the weak
land of ash and stone
Dead cold ground
dark crippled rocks
formed of ancient lava
a dead end journey
Frightful sheep
shepherds grin
the dogs follow
Onward and onward
they drag their broken bodies
with shallow breath and bleeding hands
towards their given destiny
dragged, hunted and betrayed
by the whispering voices so sweet
Ref.:
Beneath a pale sky
they find salvation
welcome their defeat
on the obsidian ascent
Beneath a promised land
they fall on their knees
welcome tranquillity
on the obsidian ascent
Follow me, praise me
be me, they whisper
Neglect yourself, hate yourself
hurt yourself, they whisper
Lead me, bless me
show me, they scream
Despise us, Reject us
punish us, they scream
Broken obsidian reach
a climb with no end
cutting shards of stone
they stare at their bleeding hands
Ref.:
Beneath a pale sky
they find salvation
welcome their defeat
on the obsidian ascent
Beneath a promised land
they fall on their knees
welcome tranquility
on the obsidian ascent
A grey veil
a rising storm
clouds of ash and stone
swallowing the feeble flock
Black rock, feeble flock
grey veil, ashen storm
petrified, cast into
obsidian, oblivion

The atmosphere of this album is fantastic. Makes you feel like you're knee-deep in the trenches drenched in mud, filth, sweat, and blood. Truly encapsulates the horrors of World War I, and the fact that the lyrics of some of the songs are taken from old war letters really adds to the authenticity.

While Ofte jeg drømmer mig død will most likely always be my favourite Afsky album (being one ov my favourite albums in general), Om hundrede år ticks all the boxes I hoped it would: the calm and simultaneously depressing folk elements are there; the wailing screams of a forlorn spirit, forced to eternally wander the woods (apt comparison, deadpunk!); the harsh, bitterly cold guitar riffs and the ultimate realisation of life, death and our inevitable undoing. Exactly what I want. Recommended! David Fischer

The atmosphere on this record is amazing dark and beautiful almost spiritual at some points and crushing at others every song gave me goosebumps at some point vaguy22
